On a recent rainy day in Oakland, {lovah} and I landed at the Bica Coffeehouse to enjoy an espresso {lovah} and a green tea {me}. It was one of those perfect days in the East Bay, chilly and wet outside, but warm and cozy inside. We sat by the window and worked on our computers (Bica has speedy, free wifi) while watching the rain pound the pavement outside. Just a couple weeks ago, a sweet new coffee shop popped up on my street, just three blocks away! My friend Bonnie alerted me to the opening of Broome St General, she never fails to know what’s new and happening in L.A.! I’ve now been to Broome St at least half a dozen times, but here are a few photos from a recent birthday luncheon I shared there with my girls Bonnie, Summer and Megan…
Summer always looks so breezy and cool. She has the most impeccable style. And her styling obviously extends to gift wrapping, as well.
Broome St General Store is first and foremost a coffee shop. But they also have delicious sandwiches and salads and other yummy munchies, brought in from Heirloom L.A. and other local vendors. The first time I was there, I saw a Lavender Hot Chocolate made for a customer. So the next time I went in for a morning coffee, I asked if they could make me a Lavender Coffee (I am a lavender fiend!!!). Voila! Lavender Mocha. TO DIE FOR. They also have a darling collection of well-curated items for the home and kitchen.
Megan looks so posh in her bright pink lipstick. Hot stuff! And Bonnie is always so serene and lovely. I seriously love these ladies so much. They are incredible friends and tremendous “office-mates.” We keep each other sane as small, creative business owners.

The weekend was lovely, now it’s full-speed-ahead with wonderful wedding madness! I won’t have a weekend “off” in a while, but you won’t hear any complaining here: I know how rare it is to have a career doing something you absolutely LOVE, and I am grateful for every single day of “work” that comes my way.
I’ve got a freshly roasted bag of coffee in hand, and I’m ready to hit the design studio!

It’s the little things that count, right? Little things like celebrating National Coffee Day? My usual weekday morning routine is more inclined towards black tea- I save the coffee for the weekends {hubs brews coffee better than I}. But this morning, I brewed a pot of coffee all by myself. It’s the best coffee in the world. The French Roast from Stumptown in Portland. Mmmmm.
Isn’t my new owl mug the cutest thing ever? I have an affinity for owls. My sorority sisters know all about that. 
It’s time for me to get back to the drawing board, but I wanted to apologize for the lack of posts up here lately. I’ve been swamped with work (good thing!) and unfortunately, blogging isn’t at the top of my list of “to-dos.” But I do have a few things up my sleeves… so don’t give up on me completely!
