Do you read the Joy the Baker blog? Do you? If you don’t, you should. Seriously. It’s one sweet blog. And not just because it’s about sweet things. Although, naturally, the sweet things are the things I’m most interested in.

A while back, Joy hosted a rooftop picnic just a few miles away from me in downtown L.A. I was fortunate enough to attend along with my {lovah}, my friend Megan, and approximately 100 other local (ish) readers of Joy’s fantastic blog. I made this floral arrangement for Joy in the colors of her blog- pink, yellow and green.

Joy decorated the event with pretty garden flowers and awesome vintage cookbooks. Perfect decor for a baker’s party!

She had astroturf on the ground, hay bales for seating, and fun blue and white umbrellas to shield us from the intense SoCal sun!

We were in a very industrial section of downtown, near the produce and seafood warehouses, and really only a few blocks from my own stomping grounds, the flower/fashion districts.

Joy served delicious food- fried chicken, coleslaw, biscuits– and several flavors of cupcakes!

See that fried chix? Yum! And here is  Joy herself- isn’t she adorable? I was smitten with that vintage dress she was wearing.

What a fun afternoon!  And seriously, if you don’t read Joy’s blog… you should head over there and subscribe ASAP! She likes pancakes, just like I do, and she’s constantly sharing new pancake recipes. You don’t want to miss those, now, do you?
