Rustic Eco-Chic, Part Two

Rustic Eco-Chic, Part Two

by: Lauryl Lane

Back with more from the Rustic Eco-chic shoot! I was going to share the table today, but thought I should show you the personal flowers and the amazing invitation suite first. Tomorrow, I’ll be back again with the reception table and all the other sweet details.

I’m still totally in love with this bouquet. Other than dried wheat and the green reindeer moss, everything else was picked on Esther’s property. Talk about organic!

Succulents, manzanita, and a whole lot of other things… I literally don’t know what most of them are!

The stem was wrapped with more of the brown floral print fabric used throughout the shoot, with a little accent of ecru lace trim and pearl pins.

For the boutonniere, I used two baby acorns, a pinch of green reindeer moss, a fabric flower, and a bit of one of the local organic floral elements picked from the property. Like the bouquet, it was wrapped in the brown floral print fabric and tied with a piece of ecru lace trim.

I’m going to try not to gush too much here, but HOLY CUTE! This is seriously one of the prettiest invitation suites I’ve ever seen! Love love love love love…

My mum, Victoria Hoke Lane, is the genius behind this exquisite invitation suite. And I grew up in her house, so I’ve seen gorgeous invitations and her PERFECT calligraphy for my entire life. Still, I was blown away. BLOWN AWAY, I tell you!

Seriously, could it be any more beautiful? The brown and white inks used, the terrific kraft paper (such a favorite of mine!), and those molded paper acorns— which mum made by hand (yes, she MADE the paper and pressed it into the mold and all that great stuff), and then painted by hand. Yikes. I love every single bit of it. AND the paper was recycled paper, so more eco-friendly!

I also love the use of a “folder” in place of an inside envelope. It’s a little less formal, while still staying within the bounds of invitation etiquette. And the invitation is address to ME! Oh, if only I could write my name like that ALL THE TIME. le sigh

And here’s that tablescape…. much more on that tomorrow!
