Playing catch-up...

by: Lauryl Lane

Oh my. Oh MY! I have been insanely busy and I’m not exactly sure why. January is usually a “dead month” for the wedding industry, but I’ve been up to my eyeballs in work. On Saturday I decorated Brandon Kidd’s wedding and it seriously became one of my favorite weddings ever. I know I say that all the time, and like many wedding bloggers who say “OMG this is the most gorgeous wedding EVER,” I am soon going to lose my credibility. But wait until you see this wedding. I’m going to venture a guess that you’ll agree with me. Every once in a while I feel like I’m given the most outrageous spurts of creative energy, it’s some totally random gift from God, and all I can do is go into CRAZY MODE and apply, apply, apply. Brandon & Kristin’s wedding was like that— so many CRAZY wonderful ideas kept popping into my head and I literally did not have enough time to implement all of them. This wedding was off the hook as far as really different, truly unique (I have never seen anything like it before) florals and decor. I literally cannot wait to share it with you. Soon. Very soon. Jasmine Star shot the photos, so you know you’re in for a treat.

In the meantime, I participated in a design challenge for Utterly Engaged magazine with Amanda from In The Now and Cathy from Love Invites. Our table rocked my world, and I have so many amazing photos of the sweet details to share with you. Alas, that too must wait until the design challenge tables are published in the February Edition of Utterly Engaged. Sorry my sweets, but you must wait just a bit longer.

This week I’m styling a table just for fun. Okay, not JUST for fun, it’s going to be photographed by the sweet, stylish and super-sassy Bonnie Tsang (who I’m grateful to call my friend) for the upcoming CRAVE LA book, which I’m going to be a part of. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be involved in this book, which features talented female entrepreneurs throughout the city of Los Angeles. This tablescape I’m designing has a theme: Valentine’s Day Wedding. Wait to see the photos before you gag. It’s a non-traditional “take” on the V-day wedding theme, and I think you’ll like it. The inspiration comes from a valentine that my Mum calligraphed for me several years ago with a Robert Burns love poem. It’s uber romantic and uber charming and uber whimsical and I am SO excited about it.

In the midst of all this inspiration and beauty, I got my notice from the EVER so great State Board of Equalization that my taxes are due by January 31st. Tax time is easily my least favorite time of year, so please excuse me while I check out for a few days and get this tax time OVER with!

I’ll leave you with this little pretty:

P.S. Did you SEE my new logo??? I’m in love.
