This evening Sammy and I went to see Linda, our new tax lady. She spent about an hour and a half with us, getting our bajillion W-2's in and explaining what sorts of things I could claim as deductions for my acting. LOTS of stuff! I didn't even claim half of the things I could have claimed, merely because I hadn't saved receipts and didn't feel comfortable claiming things without proof (should I get audited- unlikely, considering how little money we made last year!). And though I only made a smidge over $2,000 from my acting in 2006, I was thrilled to see for the first time ever that the line that states my profession on my tax forms clearly stated, "Actress." I may not be making much yet, but just seeing that was so encouraging! I am on my way. And we're getting about $1,000 back from the IRS, so that's good. Without claiming all my acting deductions and our moving expenses, we would have only gotten about $500 back. So yippidy-dippidy-do-da!
See, taxes don't have to be as horrid as we make them out to be. Thank goodness!
Glad y'all are getting back money...we have to pay..Life sucks!!!;) Anywho....glad you are feeling like you are a "real" actress now...I bet you are a terrific actress who knows...maybe I'll see ya star in something one day. And with the rate Lost is going...you might actually get to be an "other" before we figure out what the freak is going on. :)
